Our screening process

 

At sitr, your child’s safety and happiness are our top priority. That’s why every sitter who joins our team goes through a thorough screening process to ensure they meet our high standards of trustworthiness, professionalism, and care.

We want you to feel confident that your little ones are in good hands, which is why we carefully vet every potential sitter. Here's what our screening process includes:

 

  • Individual must provide personal contact details and a copy of ID
  • Initial video call to assess if the sitter is a good fit for our team.
  • In-person interview with team member to understand their experience and personality.
  • Reference check to verify their babysitting history.
  • Valid Certificate of Good Conduct to ensure a clean record.
  • Completion of online First Aid training for babies and children.

 

In addition, all sitters are 18+ and must register online and provide personal details, including contact information, resume and a copy of their ID. We maintain regular communication with our team—sometimes even daily—to ensure consistency and reliability.

Please note that sitters without babysitting experience or the ability to provide two references cannot join the sitr. team.

FAQ

How can I book a sitter?

If you want to book a babysitter for the first time, we ask you to register online first. During registration you can place a booking request and we will match you with an available babysitter of your choice.

What if I don't see any sitter available in the booking system?

No availability showing? Send us a booking request in the system anyway. We'll reach out via WhatsApp and do our best to find the right sitter for you as soon as possible.

How far in advance should I book a babysitter?

We recommend booking at least three days ahead. This gives us enough time to find the right match for your family.

During busier periods like major events or the months of November, December, and January, a week's notice goes a long way.

Need a sitter on a recurring basis for a set period? Reach out as early as you can, with a minimum of three weeks in advance.

Same-day requests are always welcome, but availability can't be guaranteed.

Is there a minimum number of hours per booking?

Yes, every booking at sitr. has a minimum of 3 hours. That applies regardless of how the evening goes. If you get home earlier than planned, the 3-hour minimum still stands. It's how we make sure our sitters are fairly compensated for their time and commitment.

Are the babysitters certified in First Aid?

All sitr. sitters complete online First Aid training for babies and children. Some also hold an official First Aid certificate.

Do I need to pay when I register online?

Registering in our booking system is completely free. Your profile simply holds your family's information and makes it easy to place future booking requests.

Have all babysitters been screened?

Every sitter on our team is thoroughly screened before they ever work with a family. We run a background check, request a Certificate of Good Conduct, verify references, and keep personal records on file including a résumé and valid ID.

On top of that, we know each sitter personally. There's regular contact and in-person check-ins with every one of them.

I have a booking planned, but my child is sick. What do I need to do?

If your child is feeling unwell before a booking, please let us know right away. It’s important for our sitters to be aware so they can care for your child appropriately. 


Please also be aware that our sitters reserve the right to decline a booking if a child appears to be unwell. This is for everyone's safety and comfort. If your child is showing any signs of illness, we kindly ask that you let us know in advance so we can inform the sitter and discuss the best approach together. Thank you for helping us keep our community well!
